I’m Ryan Pratt, founder of North Star Sitters. Born on the east coast in Philadelphia, I spent my childhood and early adulthood living in several different states, including West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and New York City. Growing up in different communities gave me the opportunity to meet people from a variety of backgrounds and helped shape my appreciation for building meaningful connections with others.

In August 2022, I relocated to Washington for the opportunity to connect with new communities of people. Moving to the Pacific Northwest has been an amazing adventure so far, and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many incredible individuals along the way.

Shortly after moving to Seattle, the opportunity to begin babysitting throughout the Greater Seattle area arose. I was fortunate to connect with multiple local families and provide babysitting services throughout the region. In 2025, I also had the opportunity to work as a summer nanny for a Seattle-based family providing consistent, personalized care and becoming a trusted part of the family’s day-to-day routine. What began as an opportunity to meet and support new families quickly became something I truly enjoyed and valued.

For more than 10 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with children and families in a variety of roles, including as a babysitter, nanny, summer camp counselor, sports coach, after-school program counselor, paraeducator, tutor, general school assistant, teaching assistant (TA), and youth leader. These experiences have allowed me to work with children of all ages, from preschool through high school, and have given me a strong understanding of the different personalities, needs, learning styles, routines, and stages of development children experience as they grow.

Working in school settings as a paraeducator, general school assistant, and TA has also strengthened my ability to support children academically, socially, and emotionally while working alongside teachers, staff, and families to help create safe and positive environments for students.

Throughout my experience, I’ve learned just how important it is for parents to have childcare they can feel comfortable and confident about. That’s what inspired me to create North Star Sitters — a babysitting referral service designed to make finding dependable, caring childcare easier for busy families.

My goal is simple: to connect families with responsible babysitters while creating a warm, convenient, and supportive experience from start to finish.
